Development of Aluminum Honeycomb Panel at Home and Abroad

The world's first honeycomb panel was jointly produced by Posco and Hanlim & C in 1930. By the 1950 s and 1960 s, high-performance honeycomb products had entered a mature stage and were widely used in aviation and aerospace fields. For example, the U.S. Hercules 3 carrier rocket satellite fairing adopts carbon/epoxy panel and aluminum honeycomb structure, Arian 5 adopts a sandwich structure of carbon fiber reinforced plastic panel and aluminum honeycomb core, and the end cap of the Japanese H-2 carrier rocket satellite fairing is an integral forming part made of aluminum alloy, and the cone section and cylinder section both adopt aluminum alloy honeycomb sandwich structure. In addition to aerospace applications, honeycomb aluminum plates are also widely used in railway trains. For example, for STA21 cars made in Japan, brazed honeycomb aluminum plates are only applied to the side walls and roof parts.

In recent years, the development of honeycomb aluminum plate is particularly rapid, and has made great progress, has developed the adhesive glass fiber reinforced plastic honeycomb, adhesive Nomex honeycomb, adhesive aluminum honeycomb and brazing honeycomb aluminum plate, and in China's large launch vehicles, subway trains and many other industries have been applied.

Aluminum honeycomb composite panels have also been widely used in the construction field due to their light weight, flame retardant, and high specific strength. However, a large area has been used for about 10 years. Nowadays, the curtain walls of famous buildings such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the ball screen cinema hall of Shanghai Children's Museum, the terminal wall of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, and the Capital International Airport all use honeycomb aluminum curtain panels. At present, China has many manufacturers to produce and sell aluminum honeycomb curtain wall, all kinds of honeycomb panels have also been included in the national spark plan to promote the project.
